This first of three sessions dives into the principal components of Stage1 within the Understanding by Design (UbD) Framework— Identifying Desired Results. A foundational and important stage as it helps educators identify what students should come to understand from a subject, engages students in higher-order, conceptual thinking, and creates cohesion into your curriculum. By the end of the session, you will be able to use standards to identify and prioritize big ideas and goals, generate and use essential questions and understandings, and develop a plan to seamlessly integrate Stage 1 of UbD into your teaching toolkit.
