Focused on CTE careers and beyond, join us for a presentation by Dr. Brian Hutchinson, co-author of the new 12th edition of School to Career. During this presentation, attendees will be given resources to aid in planning for the future and will have space at the end for questions and answers with the author.
By the end of this webinar, attendees will be able to:
- Describe how work in the 21st Century places new demands on students as future workers
- Identify career trends for students and workers as they emerge into the new world of work
- Plan classroom interventions that help students identify, clarify, and adapt to changing conditions in the world of work
About the presenter, Dr. Brian Hutchison:
I have not met many academics who have worked on a farm and in factories (3 total including garment, paper, and water bottling), as an Army infantryman, driving a school bus, as a teacher in middle and high school, running a small medical marketing research company, as a counselor, and now as a professor. My relationship with work has spanned all but the highest social classes in our society. These experiences, and my extensive research in the field of career development, have uniquely prepared me to write School to Career, 12th Edition. My goal is to make people’s lives better by helping them understand work and how to use it to build meaningful lives for themselves and their loved ones. Attention to career as it intersects with life will help us be better people within our families and communities. I hope you find this short presentation helpful in this regard, and that you find this book one that helps foster these prosocial behaviors and attitudes with your students.
